OPENS JAN 24 - Good Bad People by Rachel Lynett
Written by Rachel Lynett, Good Bad People opens during the aftermath of the death of Amiri Johnson, a 23-year old Black man living in Los Angeles who was shot by a police officer while taking out the trash. His sister June returns home to help her family and finds that her father has disappeared, her mother is refusing to leave her bedroom, and her sister Audre is doing everything in her power to control public perceptions of Amiri’s death. Old resentments begin to boil over as the three women attempt, in very different ways, to negotiate their private grief against the public outrage that Amiri’s death has sparked.
“…a well-balanced, hard-hitting, thematically resonant and genuinely funny play that asks us to sit with the gravity of Black lives lost.” – Arts ATL

In honor of International Holocaust Remembrance Day, the Laboratory Theater of Florida is holding a community event called Remember at 7 p.m. on Monday, Jan. 27. This program is designed to share the feelings and experiences of the victims who lost their lives, their families, and trust in humanity.
“As each year passes, we lose more Holocaust survivors and their voices detailing the loss and horror caused by sheer hatred and fear,” said Ella Nayor, Holocaust and Human Rights Outreach Director at the Laboratory Theater of Florida. “This loss creates the need and necessity for inspiring and compelling Holocaust programming and education. Remember answers this need through stirring music, songs, and readings and stories by Holocaust survivors, other community members, and clergy.”
